GCome, Holy Ghost, our souls inspire,
Dand lighten with celestial fire;
Emthou the anointing Spirit art,
Cwho dost thy sevenfold gifts impart.
GThy blessed unction from above
Dis comfort, life, and fire of love;
Emenable with perpetual light
Cthe dullness of our blinded sight.
GAnoint and cheer our soiled face
Dwith the abundance of thy grace;
Emkeep far our foes, give peace at home:
Cwhere thou art guide, no ill can come.
GTeach us to know the Father, Son,
Dand thee, of both, to be but One;
Emthat through the ages all along,
Cthis may be our endless song:
GPraise to thy eternal merit,
DFather, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.
